Let's Take Control Of Ourselves By Walking, Hiking And/Or Biking

Walking, hiking, biking are not only fun ways, but cheap ways to explore new territory, get in physical shape, stay in physical shape & connect to our inner sanctuary stimulating & expanding a healthy mental attitude. Walking, hiking, biking can be enjoyed all year round.

For folk who are new to the idea of walking, hiking, biking, but realize that it is time to take control of their lives & create a healthier existence, why not take a look at walking, hiking and/or biking. It is easy to take that first step & it is relatively easy to begin to feel stronger fairly quickly without causing too much stress & pain on the body; & don't forget, in comparison to other forms of exercise, it is cheap  There is not too much involved in taking that first step. Let's break it down a little.

  • First of all, take a look at how fit you feel. It is important to not over-do the walking, hiking and/or biking right away, always listen to your body, it will tell you when you are doing too much. Be kind to yourself as you work at getting your body and mind in shape. When starting any new exercise program, it is advised that you see a doctor first and get a physical check-up.
  • What sort of environment do you like to be in; for example, walking on the beach, or hiking in the forest, or maybe you like biking in a park. Take yourself out to where you enjoy being, or go explore places you haven't been and experience new environments.
  • What type of walking, hiking, biking shoes do you have? Do they have good support & good grip, are they comfortable, & are they waterproof?
  • Do you need waterproof clothing & if so, do you have any?
  • Do you have a water bottle, if not get one and start drinking lots of water.
  • If biking is something you are interested in doing and you don't have a bike, then you will need to invest in one.

Once you have the go ahead from your physician then start planning your new walking, hiking &/or biking adventure. When you are tired, stop and rest, take the time to smell the roses and become aware of your surroundings. Let your mind relax & connect to your environment.

To make this work, you should set a schedule of at least 3 times a week where you put on your walking, hiking, biking shoes and take yourself out for an hour or so and enjoy being in fresh air, smelling the ocean, surrounded by trees, birds, flowers & people & allow your body & mind to get stronger.
